Local partnerships between the yankton chamber of commerce, the yankton convention and visitors bureau , the yankton office of economic development, and the city of yankton hlps to make the city a dynamic place to live

We work together to promote economic development, grow business opportunities, increase the visitor industry and enhance the quality of life for the people who choose to make Yankton their home. The Yankton Area Chamber of Commerce, Convention and Visitors Bureau and Office of Economic Development are all housed under one roof at the Yankton Chamber and Visitor Center located at 803 E. 4th St. in Yankton.

Through numerous Yankton community partnerships, the Chamber teams with other organizations to identify common interests and pursue common goals. We work together to promote economic development, grow business opportunities, increase the visitor industry and enhance the quality of life for the people who choose to make Yankton their home. The Yankton Area Chamber of Commerce, Convention and Visitors Bureau and Office of Economic Development are all housed under one roof at the Yankton Chamber and Visitors Center located at 803 E. 4th St. in Yankton.


Yankton Area Chamber of Commerce

Mission Statement:
To provide leadership for enhancing economic opportunities that will create value for the membership and the Yankton area.  

The Chamber is a vehicle for professionals and businesses to join together to work towards the betterment of the community.  Members work through committees, trainings and events to create job opportunities, awareness, new businesses and seek improvement of community facilities such as: streets, highways, parks, schools and housing. The Chamber is funded by its members.
 
    
Yankton Convention and Visitors Bureau

Mission Statement:
To increase the economic impact and facilitate the continued development of the visitor industry in Yankton.

The CVB promotes tourism in Yankton and helps all businesses benefit from the economic impact of visitor spending.  The CVB is funded by the City of Yankton and the Yankton Area Chamber of Commerce.


Yankton Office of Economic Development


Mission Statement:
To provide vision and leadership, to prioritize the annual work plan and to develop and maintain the implementation of the goals of the economic development program while working in partnership with YAPG, Inc., the City of Yankton and the Yankton Area Chamber of Commerce. 

They focus on business retention, expansion, education opportunities and recruiting.  The council is made up of seven individuals:  the president and vice president of the Chamber, the president and vice president of YAPG, Inc., one city commissioner, the mayor and the city manager.  The Office of Economic Development is funded by the City of Yankton and YAPG, Inc.


Yankton Area Progressive Growth, Inc.

Mission Statement:
To advance and develop the City of Yankton and immediate vicinity, industrially, by offering assistance to industries and business. 

The corporation is empowered to buy and construct plants for lease or sale; provide funds for loans to industry and render other assistance, financial or otherwise.  They are a 501 (c) 6, non-profit, community development corporation that does primarily real estate and incentive financing activity related to industrial development.   YAPG, Inc. has a board of directors that are elected for a three year term.  Funding comes from membership dues and capital campaigns. 


YES! Campaign

Mission Statement:
To expand existing companies, target and recruit new businesses that results in job increases, income growth, capital investment and wealth creation; partner with the Regional Technical Education Center, Inc., Mount Marty College and area high schools to improve entrepreneurial skills and assist students' discovery of  local career and education opportunities; structural improvements and debt retirement for the Chamber and Visitors Center building; and communicate, educate and inform the community about the positive effects of economic development and the results of the YES! Campaign.

Yankton Economic Success (YES!) Initiative is a five-year economic development investment program developed by YAPG, Inc. and the Chamber.  The executive board members of each group are overseeing the campaign. 


City of Yankton

Mission Statement:
To provide cost-effective, public services as required by its citizens and to provide an environment so that both its citizens and the economy prosper.
 
The City of Yankton works together with all entities and helps to fund the CVB and Office of Economic Development.
