The National Field Archery Association (NFAA) just recently relocated their headquarters to Yankton. The NFAA Headquarters and Easton Sports Development Center for Excellence in Archery has built a 22,000 square foot facility. It includes permanent ranges for Olympic archery games, field archery and 3-D simulated hunting. A 25 meter indoor range is available year round for members and is also open to the public.
Archers may take advantage of a 28-target NFAA certified archery range, as well as a practice range at the Gavins Point Section of the Lewis & Clark Recreation Area. The archery range is set up into two, 14-target rounds and is laid out in a wooded section of the park, giving archers a natural setting to enjoy their sport. Scorecards, provided by Dakota Archery & Outdoor Sports, are available at the range. The range hosts regional archery tournaments and was the site for the Annual NFAA Outdoor Field Archery and 3-D Championship Tournaments in 2005 and 2006. A park license is required to use the range; $6/day or $28 for an annual permit. Open to the public from April 15 through Sept. 30, unless a special event is being held.
