Shown below are the events in the Meridian District that have requested, or been approved, for a street, alley or parking lot closure. All events need to file a request with the City of Yankton to initiate the process.

Upcoming Street, Alley & Parking Lot Closures in the Meridian District
- Event: Yankton School District's Homecoming Days Parade
- Location: Street closures include Cedar Street from the intersection of West Riverside Drive north to 3rd Street and 3rd
Street from Cedar to Pearl - Closure dates: September 25
- Closure times: 1:45PM until 3:30PM
- Tow Away Times: The street closures include police enforced no-parking and include towing with police assistance. The street closures would be in effect from Friday, September 25 at 1:45 PM until approximately 3:30 PM
- Event: Yankton School District’s March to the Meridian Parade
- Location: Street closures include Walnut from 2nd Street to 3rd Street and 3rd Street from Walnut Street to Pearl Street
- Closure dates: October 10
- Closure times: 7AM to 12PM
- Tow Away Times: The street closures include police enforced “No Parking” and towing with police assistance. The street closures would be in effect from Saturday, October 10, at 7:00 AM until approximately Noon
Market at the Meridian is a yearly summer market featuring local sellers with fresh produce, baked goods, photography, and homemade items. This event takes place in the parking lot at 2nd & Douglas Ave.
This parking lot closure DOES NOT include police enforced no-parking and DOES NOT include towing with police assistance. The parking lot closure would be in effect Saturday mornings from 8:00 am – 1:00 pm beginning May 2 and ending October 31.
The City also provides power to the market through the electrical panel that is installed in one of the east medians at the location known as 200 Douglas.
Marketing notifications may include: social media, email, traditional mail, text messaging, PEG channel, PSAs in print, PSAs on radio and Yankton Thrive website.
Neither the City of Yankton, nor Yankton Thrive is the host of a given event. These notifications are designed to accommodate the City’s special events ordinances.
